A Northerners Paradise

Winter is a time for staying indoors, shoveling snow, and slipping on ice. Let's not forget the runny noses and colds that can happen too! However, besides the stunning beauty that winter provides, there are unlimited opportunity for memories to be made. Many sports which can only be played in the winter, such as skiing and ice skating, hockey and snowboarding.

Where I'm from there is a mountain that we go to every winter, on that mountain is a ski resort. It's called Anthony Lakes Ski Resort and it has the best snow East of the Cascade Mountains. If you're a ski loving fanatic, or just have time to shoot down the slopes once in a while, I encourage you check this resort out!

The staff are very friendly, always talking with you about the quality of snow and complimenting you on your gear. Be that the goggles around your neck, the puff ball beanie on your head, or the gloves on your hands!

Not to mention there are various levels of difficulty for every skier, and a teacher to help them. The instructors are patient and works with every student individually. They don't let beginners on the lift unless they themselves are convinced that they student won't hurt themselves.

There are some downsides to this tucked away beauty. Up in the mountain, weather can be unpredictable. Their equipment isn't that great and the lift has a history of shutting down. Not only that, but when the lift is closed everyone goes to the lodge and it'll tend to get crowded if you don't have a table reserved. But, that happens once or twice in the span of 4-5 months! On a clear, sunny day you can see Mt. Hood, Mt. Emily and sometimes Mt. Stain Hellenes! True fact.

The scenery, food, and company is worth the trip. If you don't believe me, go and find out!

This is one of the many mountains that you see on the way up the hill. There really are no words to describe how beautiful it can get up at Anthony's!
